Christian Dior Spring 2013

  |   SPRING 2013

Raf Simons’ has just shown his Spring 2013 inaugural collection for Christian Dior Ready-to-Wear this afternoon at Les Invalides in Paris. A pure flow of percussion underscored the simplicity and minimalist approach taken to redefine the codes of elegance for the House of Dior. Deconstructed 1950′s glamour prevailed with new look-esque mini coatdresses, asymmetrical hip details, and dome-shaped floral printed evening skirts. The accessories were simple, with Natalie Wood styled scarves and sharp, almost futurist details in footwear and bracelets. Grey and black provided a subtle backdrop Simons’ electric shock of blue, pink, yellow, and tangerine which illuminated the classicism of 1950′s silhouettes. This use of contrasts was most predominate in the long flowing colour-blocked tunics that were smartly paired with black micro shorts and the graphically intense florals and stripes. The looks were further enhanced with Pat Mc Grath’s sparkling coloured crystal eyes. Refined yet boldly modern, the Spring/Summer 2013 RTW Collection embodies a natural diffusion of the precedent that Simons set for the Christian Dior Autumn 2012 Couture Collection marking yet a new era for the House of Dior.
